Comprehensive Eye Exam at Rana Eye Centre

What this service covers

  • Vision, eye pressure and retinal check in one visit
  • Nidek auto-refraction and Topcon non-contact tonometry
  • Honest advice — referral only if genuinely required

A comprehensive eye examination looks beyond the spectacle number. It checks how clearly the eyes see, how they focus and work together, eye pressure where appropriate, and the visible health of the front and back of the eye.

What the examination may include

  • Distance and near vision with an updated refraction
  • Eye alignment, movements and focusing assessment when relevant
  • Slit-lamp examination of the eyelids, cornea, lens and front of the eye
  • Eye-pressure measurement and retinal or optic-nerve examination based on age and risk

Who should arrange a routine check

People with diabetes, a family history of glaucoma, long-term steroid use, high spectacle powers or previous eye treatment may need a schedule tailored to their risk. Children and adults with symptoms should be assessed rather than waiting for a routine interval.

Bring current glasses, a list of medicines and relevant previous reports. If dilation is needed, near vision and light sensitivity may be temporarily affected, so travel arrangements may need to be considered.

After the examination

The doctor explains which findings are normal, what needs monitoring and whether another test or specialist service is appropriate. A prescription is provided when glasses are needed; treatment is recommended only when the clinical findings support it.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I get a full eye check?

Adults with no eye problems should have a full check every 1–2 years. Diabetic patients, those over 40, or anyone with a family history of glaucoma should come yearly.
