Rana Eye Centre began with Dr. R.K. Rana and a simple idea: tell patients the truth about their eyes, and treat only what genuinely needs treating. Forty years later, that is still how the clinic runs — now with a second generation of specialists working alongside him.

Cataract surgery, retinal care, screening for newborns and complete eye examinations all happen under one roof at Sai Baba Chowk, Sector 7 — so families who came here as children now bring their own.

The clinic has grown across two generations, but care stays personal: the doctor who examines you remains involved from diagnosis through follow-up.

DIRECTOR — PHACO, REFRACTIVE & ANTERIOR SEGMENT SURGERY

Founding doctor. Began the practice forty years ago and still sees patients through every step of cataract care.

Qualifications & clinical focus

Dr. R.K. Rana founded Rana Eye Centre in 1985 with a simple rule: treat only what genuinely needs treating. An alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College, he took his post-graduate degree in Ophthalmology from Guru Nanak Eye Institute in 1979 and trained in refractive surgery in Japan in 1992. More than thirty years of practice and hundreds of successful surgeries later, he still leads cataract care at the clinic — walking every patient from first consultation to final follow-up himself.

Dr. Kunal Rana

MEDICAL DIRECTOR — VITREO RETINA SURGERY

Handles the retina clinic — diabetic eye disease, retinal surgery, lasers and newborn ROP screening.

Qualifications & clinical focus

Dr. Kunal Rana trained at the world-renowned Aravind Eye Hospital in Tamil Nadu under some of the best retina surgeons in the field. He excels in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the retina, uvea and neuro-ophthalmology, and runs the newborn ROP screening programme — working with neonatal units across Rohini to keep premature babies on schedule.

Dr. Nidhi Mittal Rana is a specialist in plastic surgery of the eyelids and surrounding tissues. She trained and worked at the world-renowned Aravind Eye Hospital in Tamil Nadu, and is a certified practitioner for facial injections of botox and fillers. Patients know her for unhurried, plainly-explained consultations and gentle follow-up.

1985
A one-room practice at Sai Baba Chowk

Dr. R.K. Rana opens Rana Eye Centre in Sector 7, Rohini with one examination room and a simple promise — tell patients the truth about their eyes.

The 1990s
Becoming Rohini’s family eye clinic

Word spreads through families and neighbourhoods. The clinic grows, but the rule stays the same: no procedure that isn’t genuinely needed.

The 2010s
The second generation joins

Dr. Kunal Rana brings dedicated retinal care — and later, Dr. Nidhi Mittal Rana adds anterior segment and oculoplasty expertise. OCT imaging and ROP screening arrive in-clinic.

Today
Same address, same promise

Forty years, thousands of patients and three specialists later — families who first came as children now bring their own. That continuity is the clinic’s proudest record.
